2024 Highlights

February

  • February 3: Today, the lab enjoyed its first-ever manatee viewing field trip in Crystal River, Florida! Many thanks to Birds Underwater for leading us on such an amazing journey! You can see some photos and read more about our journey in this thread on Twitter

March

  • March 7: Saurabh Ranjan has won his first national award as a member of the lab! He received notice today that he is the winner of the Scott O. Lilienfeld APS Travel Award. This award will support Saurabh’s travel to San Francisco in May to present his work at the APS Convention. Congratulations, Saurabh!
  • March 24: Saurabh Ranjan has published his first commentary as a graduate student in the laboratory! Saurabh has some thoughts on the HeXaGen model of visual imagery, which you can find on our publications tab. Well done, Saurabh!

April

  • April 18: Undergraduates from the lab gave two fantastic posters today at the PGSO forum here in the UF Psychology department. First, Madeline Maw, Lindsey Zhuang, and Jessica Baltes (mentored by Saurabh Ranjan) won third place for their poster titled, “Task Demands and Sensory Externalization Interact to Influence Accuracy and Metacognition in Reality Monitoring.” Also, Sanjana Dundigalla, along with co-authors Delaney Johnson and Adyssa Roh (also mentored by Saurabh) gave a fantastic poster titled, “Cognitive Strategies in Reality MOnitoring Change Based on Extraneous Factors.” Congratulations to our research teams!

May

  • May 19: The lab will be giving two posters at the annual Vision Sciences Society meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida. First, Dr. Odegaard and Joseph Pruitt will delivering a poster called, “Near Optimal Metacognition Across the Visual Periphery” in the Sunday morning session. Later that day, Alejandro Gamba will present work from a research team on how “Task-irrelevant motion information modulates working memory representations.”
  • May 23-May 25: Joseph Pruitt and Saurabh Ranjan are delivering flash talks at the APS convention in San Francisco on May 23! Saurabh will also deliver a poster in the evening session (4-5pm) on May 24, and Joey will deliver a poster on May 24
